A Peaceful, Simple Life

And just like that, the month of May is over. This month, I set out with the goal of helping you, me, and we reset our minds through journaling (lol). I’ll be honest, it’s been a blend of consistency and those oh so-human moments of inconsistency. Sometimes, I stuck to the prompts, journaled with intention, and felt incredibly productive. Other days, I wrote what came to mind or didn’t write at all. But either way, my heart was okay.

And that’s what I love about journaling — there’s no one-size-fits-all. No perfect way to do it. It’s yours to make your own.

As I sit this evening, reflecting on today’s final prompt — describing my ideal, simple, peaceful life — two words come to mind: less stress. Sounds basic, I know. But for me, a life that’s free from constant stress is a peaceful one.

We all know what stress can do to our mental and physical health. And no, I’m not saying I expect stress to disappear. But I am saying I want to be more intentional about not inviting it in. If I can avoid stressful moments, conversations, or situations, I want to.

Some people say stress is a natural part of life, even necessary. But I wonder who decided that pressure, in small, medium, or large doses, was the key to living well? Because when I return to the truth of Scripture, I hear something else:

  • “Do not worry.”

  • “Cast your burdens.”

  • “Fear not.”

To me, that sounds a lot like permission to seek peace. To pursue simplicity. To breathe deeply and walk lightly — even amid life’s demands.

As we close out May, I truly pray that your mind has been reset and that you’re walking into June with more calm, clarity, and peace.

I’d love for you to join me in June for something new: Blooming in Encouragement. More details are coming this week!

If you’ve enjoyed this journaling journey, or if anything I’ve shared has blessed you, I’d love to hear from you in the comments. Or just stop in to say hello!

Here’s to blooming,

Mel
