A Peek Into My May Reset

Dear J,

Life has been so busy these last few weeks. I finally found a moment to breathe—and reset the reset (lol).

At the start of May, I created a writing prompt series to help myself and others bloom our minds this month. I’ve completed a few of the prompts, though not as many as I had hoped.

At first, I was slightly annoyed, but then I remembered—IT’S OK. Every day is a new opportunity to begin again.

So, as promised, I’m sharing two of my May journal prompts from the calendar here. And if you haven’t started yet, don’t worry. There’s still time to pause, reflect, and grow. You don’t need a perfect beginning—just a willing heart

May 5, 2025 -Healthy Habits I will Strengthen

Dear J,

There are so many healthy habits I’d like to strengthen, but the first one that comes to mind is focusing more on ab workouts.

My Why:

Over the past four years, I’ve worked hard to change my diet and consistently strength train with my coach. I’ve seen excellent results—but that stubborn “mom pouch” is still hanging around (ugh!). I’m proud of how far I’ve come but ready to take it up a notch.

My How:

I’ll stick to my current eating method—because it’s a lifestyle, not a diet—and start incorporating more core-healing exercises. I’ve been researching workouts that specifically target diastasis recti and plan to add more stretching.

My Timeline:

I love setting deadlines because giving myself a timeframe helps me stay accountable. So, I’m giving myself this summer to see noticeable changes.

This isn’t the end of this journey. I’ll be back to check in and reflect on my progress.

May 6, 2025- List what you are deeply grateful for

Today, I am deeply grateful for

  1. A New Day — Each new day is a clean slate and a fresh start to do something great. I’m so thankful for grace and mercy.

  2. The Sun — Today is so beautiful and sunny. The sun always does wonders for my mental.

  3. Being Able to Share My Thoughts — The writer in me has been budding since I was a child, and it’s finally blooming.

  4. My Family and Friends — Life would be pretty tough without their support. I’m beyond grateful for them.

  5. All the Birthdays We've Celebrated — Over the last few months, we’ve had so many family birthdays. Being able to celebrate life is such a blessing.

  6. Growth — I’m not perfect, but there have been noticeable changes in me, and for that, I’m thankful.

  7. My Journal — Because what’s a day without writing in you, “J”? You’re the space where I dump, reflect, examine, and heal.

Until next time,

Love,

Mel
